WHAT IS STYLE?

Style is a hard thing to define. I know how I like to take pictures and what I see when I look through the eye piece.

Style might be choosing the exact moment to press the shutter and commit to that moment or tilting the camera at an angle. It is about recording a moment in time, a moment that changes every second and is over in less.

If I had to define my style I would say it was in the realms of photojournalism or reportage. But that is a label, and labels are hard to stick on something that is unique from wedding to wedding. I do know that whilst I believe in trying to capture natural portraits and expressions in a laid back unobtrusive manner, sometimes the photographer needs to help out. So the way they do this could be classed as style. Personality and approach plays a big part.

So before you decide who you are going to book to document your wedding day, consider what you like and meet up with your prospective photographer. It is very important you get on with your photographer so that they are able to get the best possible pictures they can for you. You can be the judge of whether they have style.
